WE WELCOME you as you join us today in worship and fellowship. Here at St. Paul’s, we consider ourselves to be a church with a heart in the heart of the city.  If this is your first visit with us, please introduce yourself to any of the ushers on duty. We pray that you will find our worship meaningful and our fellowship friendly and inviting.  We invite you to join us as together we seek to know Christ and make Him known.

We invite our visitors to come again, and if you are seeking a church home of your own, a welcome and a place await you here at St. Paul’s. Your need for counseling on spiritual or emotional matters, arrangements for entry into membership, pastoral visits, and the celebration of a baptism or a marriage, can be met by contacting the church office at 393-3035, or the Pastor directly, at 285-7584.

A vital part of our worship experience each Sunday is the after- worship fellowship time in the Wesley Chapel. We value this time as an opportunity to meet and deepen the fellowship among our members and visitors. Please join us in today’s fellowship time hosted by Bob & Barb Ruof.

THE FLOWERS at the altar are presented in memory of the 90th birthday of James N. Sharp by Helen Sharp and the Ruof family.

THE CHURCH GATHERS FOR WORSHIP

(As you enter the sanctuary this morning, we encourage you to prepare for worship by doing three simple but important things. First, greet the person(s) sitting near to you. Our desire is that every worshiper feels a sense of belonging as we come into God’s presence. Next, let the interlude of worship songs help to center your thoughts on what has brought us all to this time and place – God’s love and grace. Lastly, pray for God’s anointing of those who will be leading in worship and for some blessing to fall on each worshiper here today.)

UNISON PRAYER

Eternal God, Creator and Ruler of the world, we come with humility and gratitude as we gather to seek your presence. Inspire, refresh, and revive us, that we may truly worship you with hymns, prayers, words, and deeds. We bring our sins before

you with contrite hearts. Help us to know that in Jesus Christ our sins are forgiven, and that in his way of love we are truly free. This is the time and this is the place. We wait for you, God, to come to us: to change our minds, to remold our lives, to fill us with hope. Here and now, in this place and at this time, come to us, O God. Amen.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

ST. PAUL’S COOK BOOK - As most of you know, for more than two years we have been soliciting the congregation for recipes to compile into a book to sell to help the church's finances. Only a handful of people have responded to our request, causing us to assume the congregation has no interest in the endeavor. In case we are wrong, we are asking St. Paul's cooks to bring in their recipes NO LATER THAN NEXT SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7. You may give them to Anne Kendig, Barb Ruof, or Dorothy Canter. We need at least 150 more to pursue the project. We know from our covered dish meals that St. Paul's has excellent cooks.

If we have to discontinue our goal, we will organize the recipes already submitted into a mini-book and will sell them within the congregation.

FINANCE COMMITTEE will meet Wednesday, September 3 at 6:30 pm.

GIANT, DARRENKAMP’S Cards are available.   See Dorothy Canter for Darrenkamp’s, Dick Campbell for Giant.
